Funding Assistance Guidelines

  • JOH is a non-profit 501c3 tax-exempt organization committed to providing financial assistance to adults (ages 18+) who are affected by cancer.

  • All applications are evaluated on a non-discriminatory basis.
  • Residents of Cuyahoga and Lorain counties are eligible to apply for funding.
  • Funds are limited and based upon availability and applicant’s needs.
  • Type and amount of assistance will be determined on a case-by-case basis by Journey of Hope’s Review Committee.
  • Application submission does not assure assistance will be granted.
  • Approved applicants will receive a one-time aid disbursement.  Applicants may be approved for another grant after one year if in active treatment, but it is not guaranteed.
  • Applications will only be accepted from the 1st through the 15th of each month.  Any applications received with a postmark after the 15th will be returned and may be resubmitted for the next month.  This will ensure monthly distribution of funds.
  •  Applicants will receive a response by mail within 30 days upon receipt of the application – provided a complete application has been submitted.
  • Incomplete applications will not be reviewed or accepted and will be returned.  An email will be sent to the submitting social worker to state that it was not accepted.
  • If an applicant is rejected, they may re-apply in the next funding quarter.
  • Applicant must submit legible copies of any applicable statements or invoices.  If requesting housing assistance, applicant must submit a signed letter by landlord including their name, address and phone number or a mortgage statement.

Completed applications should be mailed, by the social worker, to:
